ONLINE: Trans Day of Remembrance
ONLINE | ASL
Join us at 7:00 PM on November 20th to observe the Trans Day of Remembrance with a virtual ceremony and vigil [on Zoom / Facebook Live].
– Information –
The Trans Day of Remembrance is held annually to honour and memorialize the lives of trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals lost in the past year, and years prior, to an ongoing epidemic of transphobic violence and discrimination.
To mark this day, it is vital to reflect on the violence and injustices perpetrated against trans folx, disproportionately racialized trans folx, and recognize how colonization, racism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism, and classism intersect with transphobia and transphobic violence. We must work toward systematic, institutional change, and take individual action.
If you wish to speak at this event or help with reading the Names of those lost in the past year, please contact veemariner[at]frederictonpride[.]com by end of the day on Friday, November 18.
